KCN VIETNAM’S EFFORTS TO IMPROVE SOCIAL WELFARE AND ENHANCE WORKFORCE QUALITY

05/02/2026

KCN Vietnam has been implementing a wide range of social welfare initiatives aimed at improving living conditions, enhancing workforce quality, and developing a sustainable talent base.

According to figures released at the 2025 Investment Legal Support Forum, Vietnam is home to more than 430 industrial parks employing approximately 4.1 million workers. However, 70-80% of these workers still lack access to suitable housing.

At the same time, the industrial park labor market is entering a restructuring phase, shifting its focus from expanding quantity to improving quality in order to meet the demands of next-generation foreign direct investment (FDI). Forecasts for the 2025-2035 period indicate that over 95% of recruitment demand will be for trained workers, placing higher requirements on skills, technical expertise, and adaptability.

Experts emphasize that in this context, ensuring social welfare in parallel with developing a high-quality workforce has become a strategic priority, requiring proactive engagement and close coordination among stakeholders.

Mr. Hardy Diec, Chief Operating Officer of KCN Vietnam, noted that in recent years, beyond construction quality, investors have increasingly prioritized sustainability and ESG criteria when making investment decisions. In addition, the quality and stability of the local workforce have become key considerations, as businesses require skilled labor with long-term commitment.

From its establishment, KCN Vietnam has identified ESG as a core strategy embedded across its business and operations. While environmental (E) and governance (G) factors were emphasized early on, the company has progressively expanded its focus to the social (S) pillar, particularly issues relating to workers.

One of the company’s key efforts is the 2025 corporate social responsibility program, “KCN Vietnam – Connect for Good,” which focuses on social welfare and education. The program is implemented in collaboration with Lao Dong Newspaper and the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund, supporting industrial workers and their children to help address daily living challenges while contributing to long-term human capital development.

From September 2025 to January 2026, the program funded the construction and renovation of homes for four worker families facing difficult circumstances. At the same time, 100 scholarships were awarded to disadvantaged students with strong academic performance in Tay Ninh Province, Dong Nai Province, Bac Ninh Province, and Hai Phong. Improved living conditions help reduce financial pressures on workers, stabilize their lives, and strengthen their long-term engagement with employers.

In addition, KCN Vietnam has provided scholarships and training equipment to Long An College and Hai Phong Technical College. These contributions aim to improve teaching and practical training conditions, particularly in electronics and high-tech fields, thereby enhancing the overall quality of vocational education and local workforce development.

Mr. Hardy Diec emphasized that these activities are not short-term charitable efforts but an integral part of the company’s ESG strategy aligned with its sustainable development goals. “For us, investing in workers’ living environments, social welfare, and education is also an investment in the long-term stability and efficiency of the production ecosystem within industrial parks,” he said.

Beyond these initiatives, the group regularly organizes charitable activities supporting vulnerable groups, orphaned children, and green development projects, helping to foster a culture of sustainability among employees. With a total funding value of VND 400 million, the “KCN Vietnam – Connect for Good” program has delivered tangible results in improving social welfare and stabilizing the workforce in key industrial regions. The program also provides a foundation for KCN Vietnam to continue researching and implementing initiatives and projects aligned with evolving practical needs in the coming period.
